First Post

Well, only 35 more sleeps until our journey begins....so much to do, but at least I can now check off the 'create blog' entry from my interminable list.

Due to the unfortunate event of whooping cough in the house, the three of us have the luxury of hanging out at home for 5 days taking care of things such as washing heavy coats, finalising lists and setting up said blog.

My self-professed OCD has really come to the fore with my preparation for this trip - who else would think of printing out airport maps and developing near-expertise in understanding the Osaka-region public transport  network all before stepping on the plane.  No doubt our trip will be filled with all the joyful frustrations usually inherent in travelling the world, such as lost baggage and miscommunicateed requests, however, I am hoping our diligent planning will help with managing any required contingencies.
Well, the tickets are booked and I must admit I get tired even looking through our itinerary...but no-one can accuse us of doing things by halves.... Japan, Germany, France, England and Amsterdam, here we come...not to mention the toe-dipping in Luxembourg, Belgium, Austria and Switzerland along the way!

Highlights of our trip include spending Christmas with my fabulous brother and his family in Goetteldorf (southern Germany), spending time with Clare and her beautiful girls in London, homestaying with an exclusively french-speaking family in Paris and attending "The Lion King' in London's West End.

All I can say is Bring It On!!!!!
